Who is eligible to apply for the scholarship?

We’re looking for hard-working community members who identify as a visible minority (BIPOC). They have to be between the ages of 18-30, have completed high school or the equivalent, and hold PR status or Canadian citizenship. If we just described you, don’t hesitate to submit an application!

What is the deadline for submitting an application?

Submissions are open until October 31st, 12:00am EST. Make sure to completely fill in the form before you hit submit. Scottie will review every video so don’t turn in yours late.

How do I apply for the scholarship?

It’s really simple. We just want you to tell us about yourself, why you deserve the Skilled Trades College scholarship, and your plan once you complete the course. Record it for 30-90 seconds in video format and send it in using this form. Most importantly, just be your authentic self!

How many scholarships are available?

Anyone can apply but only four recipients will be chosen. The scholarships are valued at $20,000 and will be given to BIPOC hopefuls with permanent resident status or Canadian citizenship.

When will the scholarship recipients be announced?

The winners will be chosen in November 2023. The lucky four will be able to choose any STC program to study at their preferred campus. Keep your eyes peeled for announcements!

Can I apply if I’m already enrolled in an STC program?

No, you cannot. STC students that are currently enrolled in a program are not allowed to apply anymore. Alternatively, you can apply for government grants or deductions instead since you’re studying skilled trades.

Can I apply if I have already received another scholarship?

No, you cannot. Students who have already received scholarships or grants through STC are not eligible to apply. But if you know someone who hopes to start a career in the trades industry, share this opportunity with them instead.

Are there any additional requirements or commitments if I am selected as a scholarship recipient?

If you're one of the chosen four, STC just needs one favour. All you need to do is give the college an update while you’re taking the course, and then again three months after graduation.
